This week, I got to review the brand new Walt Disney Treasures DVD release - Zorro! This is the original series from the late 1950's starring Guy Williams and it's really delightful.

Zorro was the hottest superhero in town back when this show first aired. Kids all over the US were putting bedsheets around their necks as capes and making masks out of scraps of fabric. And I'm sure more than one mom had to wash a crayon Z off the bedroom wall. Chases on horseback, sword fighting, bad guys and pretty girls - Zorro was the coolest of the cool.

What makes this DVD set extra special, though, is the presentation. Both seasons come inside a black metal box with gold lettering. They include a Zorro pin and a collectible photo postcard. These limited edition sets are numbered and each comes with a certificate of authenticity.

The DVD's themselves have been remastered and the picture quality is excellent. But, as a collector of all things TV, I really love the special features which include a look at some of the Zorro merchandise from the 50's and even home movie footage of Guy Williams at Disneyland.

This is a great DVD set for anyone who loves the early Disney TV shows, is a superhero fan or even a fan of Guy Williams who went on to star in Lost in Space. Guy's son is very promient in the special features and he tells some lovely stories about his dad who passed away all too soon.

Zorro: The Complete First Season and The Complete Second Season are now available in stores and at Amazon. Together, they make an exceptional holiday gift.
