Fresh and Easy

I just got back from another Fresh and Easy shopping run and I had to come in here and say if you have a store near you - go!

On the surface, it would seem like this place would be expensive. They're all about fresh and organic foods and they specialize in healthy "fast food". Think of a Stouffer's frozen dinner, only it's all freshly made and not frozen. You buy it, take it home, heat it and go.

What amazes me about this store is the amount of high quality groceries I get for my money. The trick here is to find out when your local store does mark downs. Because a lot of their food is fresh, it has a very short shelf life. Everyday they mark down meats, sandwiches, prepared foods, even sushi! Today I picked up New York Strip steaks normall $15.00 for the package for only $5.00. Feed my family of three plus left overs for my teenager.

Today I also found this dip set marked down to only $3.00. Huge portions of two kinds of hummus, ranch dip and a spicy spinach dip. We love hummus on everything, so this was a great find. Their baked goods are also marvelous. I got two foccacia squares for under a buck. These are so good for sandwiches that you bake in the oven. I also got a bag of freshly made peanut butter cookies for $1.20. (All off the sale rack.)

In addition to the markdowns, they have weekly deals on everyday items. I got cherry jam for $.99. Cinabon Cereal of .99 cents! Half gallon of orange juice (fresh, no corn syrup) $1.99 and $1.39 for a carton of eggs which is a almost a buck cheaper than my regular grocery store.

Fresh and Easy is a no frills market. You scan your own food and you're supposed to bag but usually there's a body by the check out to help you. They don't take coupons except their own which they send out every couple of months.

If you have a Fresh and Easy near you, check it out. It's really great for people on restricted diets because you can pronounce all of the ingredients that they put in their food! It really is healthy food done right.

I can't do all my shopping here, but it's my twice a month go to spot for deals.

We just got one near us too. I've only been twice, but I do like it. I think it's going to come in handy for last-minute dinners since they have a lot of freshly prepared meals like pastas and soups that you can just take home and heat up. I like to look through their selection of canned goods too because they have somewhat hard-to-find items like baby corn (although the selection does seem to change, so grab it when you see it!)
