Deborah's Divine Dinner Biscuits
When I moved back to Ireland I missed Red Lobster... not only for the cheap seafood, but mainly for those cheesy garlic biscuits! So I set out to recreate them and not only are they very similar, I think they are much better! There are never any left and that's for sure!
Ingredients
# 2 cups flour
# 1 cup milk
# 6 tbsp ice-cold butter (3oz / 3/4 stick)
# 1 tbsp baking powder
# 1 tsp garlic powder
# 1/2 tsp salt
# 1/2 tsp white pepper
# 3/4 cup sliced green onions (green and white parts)
# 1 cup grated cheddar cheese (grate your own, it's cheaper, fresher and tastes much better!)
# 3tbsp butter to brush mixed with 1/2 tsp garlic powder
Kitchen Items
Baking Tray/Stone
Instructions
Mix flour, baking powder and spices in large bowl. Cut the butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or two knives. When it resembles fine breadcrumbs, add the cheese and scallions and mix, then add milk but don't over mix.
Using a large spoon drop onto a greased cookie sheet or ungreased stoneware sheet. Make as big or small as you would like. Melt remaining butter and mix in garlic powder. Brush tops of biscuits. If there is any left, take out halfway through baking and brush again.
Bake at 200C/400F for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and sort of crusty when tapped. Serve alone or with more butter!
