Would you pay for someone to get your kid in shape?
Maybe it's just me but I think that if your child is overweight it on you to get that fixed. I just saw a blurb that talked about people paying personal trainers to help get their children to lose weight!
First of all, I'm just blown away and a little envious that people have money to spend on personal trainers for their kids and second of all, I'm curious about what shape the parents are in? I mean, shouldn't fitness be a family thing? Why not take your kids for walks or bike rides or to the pool.
It just seems silly some of the thing people will pay for nowadays!

HappmomLeslie, I agree with you! How a child is health wise is all from the lifestyle the parent is living. What the parent feeds their children and how active they are determines what their size will be. So its odd that someone would pay for a personal trainer to help their child lose weight. It's like they're paying for their own faults. Parent's definitely need to be active with their kids, if they don't have time, atleast motivate them to do sports.
No I wouldn't.
I would change the family eating habbits and get the whole family involved in regular exercise and activities. Some children are having enough issues with the weight (which in many cases is the parents fault) and they don't need to have a stranger involved because their family is too busy to help them.

I do agree with you guys that parents should spend the time to do physical activities with their kids. However, what about the parents whose own habits are bad, who've noticed their kids are getting overweight and don't want them to fall into the same bad habits? Can we give them a break and kudos for trying to give their kids a healthier lifestyle? True, it's an extreme choice, especially when there are lots of sports and other programs that kids of all ages can be involved in, many of which are bound to be MUCH cheaper than a personal trainer! (I'm with you, happymomleslie, I can't even afford a trainer for myself much less my kids!) But if those are the types who are doing this, I say at least those kids are getting some good physical activity that they may not be getting otherwise.
On the other hand, I suspect many of the parents who would do this are those who are extremely image-conscious and want their kids to be "perfect" just as they desire themselves to be "perfect." In which case I just think it's sad. Life should be fun, and yes being fit is healthy, but it shouldn't become an all-consuming thing, in my opinion.

See that's the thing, if the parents habits are bad too they would do much better to make some changes in their entire family. I mean, if they can SEE that their child is this way it would make much better sense to particpate especially if they see their kids forming the bad habits that they know they already have.
I agree though, I can't see justifying the cost when you can do it yourself for free.
They would definitely be better off (the whole family would be) if the parents started making changes in their own lifestyles and making it a family affair. But I'd still rather see them do something for their kids instead of nothing for anyone. Because unfortunately that's what's happening too often. I just think it's so hard for some people to make changes in their own lives (sadly, that's what's often gotten them here in the first place), but they don't want to see their kids going down the same path.

This might be bad, but my first thought about this was that if the parents of these children are lazy enough to hire someone else to get their child in shape instead of doing it themselves, I wonder where the child gets it
