sleep

How can i get my DD to go to sleep by herself and stay asleep through the night? I've tried the bedtime routine (bath book) but nothing is working. ive tried to let her cry it out but i cant bring myself to let her cry for more than 10 min w/o rushing in and rocking her to sleep with a bottle, n yes i kno that is a bad habit to start. i kno there is no quick fix for this problem but i get so jealous when friends with babies just lay their infant down and they go right to sleep with no problem. Is what im doing detrimental to my daughters development, will this promote bad sleeping habits?

Your baby is only 9 months old. Relax. You are a great mom. Do what your insticts tell you to do. Some babies need more attention than others. And don't forget that she is teething...you know that it's really hard to sleep when your teeth hurt. Crying face My two year old still wakes up sometimes during the night (he STILL doesn't have all of his teeth). Surprised smiley

My advice is to keep up the bedtime routine every evening at the same time - that's always a great indication for the baby that it's time for bed. However, don't always use soap if you are bathing her everyday - it wil dry out her skin and itchy skin makes it hard to sleep, too.

Also, keep the lights as low as you can at nighttime and leave the TV off if you have one in the nursery. If she does wake up during the night, try to get her to sleep without the bottle. If you give her a snack at the same time every night, her body will come to expect it and she'll get up even if she's tired. If you can, substitute water - that way her belly will get full, but her body won't expect the nutrients at that time (and she'll eat better at breakfast!).

Good luck and let me know what happens! Smiley
