Question
Potty training
Curious,
Since we've got another due in Sept., I'm eager to potty train our first. She's almost 13 months and on the cusp of walking without support so I'd like to start her asap. Am I just wishfully thinking, or will I have two in diapers simultaneously? Thanks for any and all sound advice...

Well, I completely understand why you would want to get her potty trained before the new baby arrives but it may be early. If she is showing signs of wanting to sit on the potty than I would do it but from my experience 2 1/2 was a good age to start. When my son turned 2 1/2 we started introducing the potty and he was completely trained by 3 years of age. However, he did have an accident here and there.
Also, when my daughter was born he regressed a little.
Goodluck and keep me posted.
When my second child was born, my first also regressed. My honest opinion? Yes, you're going to have two in diapers. Since she will probably regress anyway, and is so young, I would seriously consider waiting until after your baby arrives and is a few months old before attempting potty training. You might save yourself a lot of frustration. My oldest was 3 years 3 months, my second was 3 years 1 month, my 4 year old was trained at 3, and my 2 1/2 year old is still in diapers. Just don't rush it. Bottom line, the child won't accept potty training until they are good and ready!!! Congrats on your second baby!!!
HI. I have a 12 month old boy and I, too, am eager to toilet train. So, I picked up the book Diaper-Free Before 3 by Dr. Jill Lekovic to learn how to go about it. The book is great and I highly recommend it. The author talks about how babies used to be trained so much earlier than they are now and how to get back to training them. It is very practical.
Good luck!
