Party Planning

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

I need help planning for my first born son's first birthday party. We have large families and we were the last to have a baby. What should we do for a party? What types of food should we serve? What types of entertainment should I have? We just built our house and I know little ones can be very demanding so we are planning events outdoors. Help suggestions.

When the kids turn 1, they hardly know what's happening! The first birthday party is usually for the parents and family/friends.

I think outside is a great idea, especially if there will be other children there. It's tough to keep an eye on all of them! As for food, I would suggest gearing to adult tastes, whatever you would normally serve for a party. Depending on what time of day it is - you may not need to provide a full meal, just some appetizers.

My kids love grapes, cheese, and of course the goldfish crackers are always a hit with the litle ones. The cake is really the most entertaining part and makes for the best photos Smiley

All in all, I would keep it simple. I keep thinking about how elaborate these things will actually get as they get older, take advantage now!
