Question
New Mom HELP!
Hi everyone,
I am going to be a new mom soon, and I'm very concerned about which products should be used with my child. I have always heard that Huggies are the best, but I've also heard that some children don't take well to them. I've been doing some research and I think this site has some great things, especially an offer for a FREE Huggies care package that includes: diapers, baby wipes, changing pads, etc. If you can, please take a look and tell me if this is good. Either way, I know there are new parents out there who can take advantage of this FREE stuff. Take a peek!
I truly do need some help with this as I am a new mother and my maternal instinct has not kicked in yet!

Hi there,
I don't know anything about that site. I tend to be wary of steep discounters like this if I don't know them by reputation. I probably wouldn't use them without a word-of-mouth recommendation from someone who's actually used them.
As for which diapers to use, my advice is don't stress. When my daughter was a baby, a girlfriend of mine swore up and down that Huggies were the "only" diapers she'd use. However, I found Pampers Swaddlers for newborns and later Cruisers to work best for my extremely wiggly child. As she got older, it did seem the Huggies fit better. Different types of diapers also seemed to fit better at different ages. When you're switching sizes or just want a change because something is not working, buy a small box first before you commit to the bigger packages.
Good luck with your new baby!

Congratulations! Being a new Mom is so exciting and at the same time very overwhelming. Even with all the concerns and worries it's the best thing in life!
I had better luck with pampers products myself. My son, now 4 years old, has very sensitive skin. When he was about 6 months old we had taken 2 or 3 trips to the pediatricans office because I could not get rid of his awful diaper rash. We tried different ointments and home remedies and couldn't pin point what was the cause. Not until I met a mom of quintuplets that I found the answer to my diaper rash question. It was the Huggies diapers I had been using! Her kids had the same issue so she switched to pampers and the problem went away! I never purchased Huggies again and he had a clear little bottom his whole diaper stage!
All babies do react differently to baby products but I hope this is helpful. Just purchase smaller packages to begin with and see what works best for you and your baby. Goodluck!
Pampers gave my first child diaper rash as did some other brands so I used Huggies with her, but my second girl used pampers because huggies always leaked with her. It's really trial and error, I thought I would never use anything but Huggies until I discovered pampers worked better for my second one.
If you sign up on the actuall diaper websites, like Huggies and pampers they will send you a lot of coupons each month, so I would suggest that.
Personally I was a Pampers mom. I found that Huggies leaks...ooops! Don't tell my husband that, he works for Kimberly Clark (they manufacture Huggies! ;)
Just a little side note, you should check out www.eightydaisies.com! They have such ADORABLE one of a kind baby and mommy things on there!
Hello, New Mom. They didn't have that when I had kids. But I did check it out and it is a pretty good offer. I used Huggies and Pampers when my kids were babies. An then I went to Luvs and Dry Bottom. Do remember that the no name brands are good too. An don't get upset if you can't breast feed. I couldn't with eather one of my girls. My first girl my breast got hard and the milk got infected. So I was in pain and couldn't and didn't want to breast feed. With my secound daughter I breast feed for a week and the milk didn't come out fast enough. So I tried bottleing brest milk and that was hurting and uncomfortable so we did formula. An my girls are great.
Pampers Swaddlers!!
Also, the Sensitive Pampers Swaddlers have a little strip down them and turn green when the diaper is wet/dirty
My husband LOVED that feature and it does make it easy to just pull aside whatever you have your baby dressed in and see that green stripe.
Also, another tip in case you haven't heard this one: a great way to check if a diaper is wet is to pinch a little bit of it. If it's "crunchy" and "crinklely", it's dry, but if it feels like there's gel in the bit you pinch, it's wet!
What you will find over time is that regardless of the brandname all diapers and wipes do essentially the same thing: catch and wipe poop. For some unknown reason there are children who have skin reactions to different types of diapers and wipes, but no one knows until they use the product on their baby whether it will cause a rash, or leak, or what. The best thing you can do is get the smallest package you can find of whatever diapers/ wipes catch your eye, whether it be for the packaging, the price, or the product reviews, and try them out. You'll soon have a favorite, and whichever one it is is the right one for you. Same thing with formula. Most likely the hospital that you deliver at will send home a care package with you that will include some diapers and some formula samples (these are donated to the hospital by the companies that make them because those companies know that most moms will keep using the same brands that the hospital used as long as no allergy develops) If your baby tolerates these samples, you can either continue buying that brand, or ask your pediatrician for a recommendation of an alternate brand that is cheaper or has a name brand that trips your trigger more.
If you register with huggies.com and luvs and similac and all the others they will probably send you free samples and coupons for whatever their newest product is, but keep in mind that they will also inundate you with junk mail from other sponsors that they sell your information to, so you may want to set up a seperate email address just for those sites. Any site that directs you to more than one other page is going to turn out to not be worth the time and effort it would take to get the free gift because they require you to sign up for several different random things like magazine subscriptions and credit cards before you qualify for the free gift.
