Natural Family Planning

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Does anyone else use Natural Family Planning? I am a young Catholic mom, and my husband and I have chosen not to use birth control but rather use Natural Family Planning. I was wondering if anyone has advice/support for me. My cycles are so irregular (especially with all the hormone changes that happen to us moms after we have babies!) that it is hard for my husband and I to be intimate since we are trying to avoid pregnancy right now. Any support or advice you could give me would be great!

And for women who don't know about Natural Family Planning, it is a system of family planning that works around your cycle. Basically, you track your mucus discharge and use that to make observations about when your fertile times of the cycle are--at least in the system my husband and I use. It is nice because just by looking at my chart at my six week appointment, my doctor could tell something was wrong and I needed to be put on some horomone therapy. Here are some links about the different kinds of NFP available:

I was on Natural Family Planning, when we accidentally conceived while on vacation.

Very important: Semen last 72 hours. Being stress free & having tons of fun increase your chances of conception - while on natural Family Planning

My grandmother used Natural Family planning...but  NOT one of her 17 children, 63 Grand children , or 38 Great grandchildren use it (including me)!! These numbers are truely NOT a joke!

hi, we use natural family planning and it's works nicely for us. I use something called cycle beads...you can see them here

they work great for us because you can see at a glance where you are in your cycle and so can your husband, I read a book called taking charge of your fertility...I'd highly recommend it. It's really explains things in detail, and they have an online support group too. oh, and if you're irregular, the book does go into detail about mucous, temps etc.
