Question

Mirena IUD....painful to remove?

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

I was reading some of the posts about the Mirena IUD and I wondered for those ladies who had it and then got it removed, was it painful?  Getting it inserted was extremely painful for me and now I am afraid to get it removed    I wondered if anyone had any advice?

Thanks,

Christina

I had alot of pain when i got mine inserted too. Yesterday i had it removed because the symptoms i was having was not worth it! It's pretty quick but i had alot of cramping... instantly! You'll probably bleed for a day or two and have cramps. But it's not as bad as getting it inserted as it is getting it removed.

I didn't remember experiencing as much pain when I had Mirena inserted as I felt when I just had it removed. I had my Minera removed 2 days ago, and I was in so much pain shortly afterwards. I also had the copper Paragard IUD inserted at the same time. I had this type after my 3rd child was born and it worked well or me, and had it removed when I wanted to have my last child. But after my last child was born I decided to try the newer Mirena. I liked the idea of no periods! But the side effects were horrible and not worth it at all! Hopefully the Paragard works as well as the last time I had it.

i had mine removed 4 days ago and it didn't really hurt,, i had a uterine biopsy done right after and that was very painful.... wondering if anyone else had to have a biopsy after having their iud removed....
i also have had intense bleeding since i had it removed, it's like i just had a baby
