IUD Concerns - any info?
I got my Mirena IUD back in January of 2007. I've been feeling
unwell for at least a year now and just thought it was from stress (my
mom had terminal cancer). Since Christmas I've had escalating symptoms
and am wondering if these could be attributed to the IUD.
- Stomach pain (lower right)
- Sometimes there is burning or cramping below my belly button (uterus area?!)
- Menstrual-type cramping
- Nausea/Motion Sickness feeling
- Lower Back Cramps
- Frequent Bowel Movements (not the Dia. - sorry TMI!)
- Super Tired
- Weight Gain (since Christmas I've gained 15lbs.... since I've had my
son in Nov 06 it's been about 50lbs - I eat less than I ever have too!)
I have a checkup coming up with my ObGyn, and my family doctor hasn't seem concerned about it being the Mirena.
Anyone else have similar symptoms from an IUD? I'm thinking about having it removed.

I say do it. Google Mirena IUD side effects and you will find tons of sites with women's stories. A lot of the women are having the same problems you are. I just had mine removed 2 weeks ago. A friend of mine had all of the same symptoms and it was from the IUD. What finally made her take it out was that the doctors told her she had displaisia (pre-cancerous cells) on her cervix and it turned out she didn't but they had gotten an incorrect reading because of the IUD.
