help
Go to your local court and ask if they have a free family law help clinic. If you dont get legal custody then the dad can legally take the baby. Also you might not want to put his name onthe birth certificate, but ask someone who really knows.
Actually, depending on where you live, the father has no legal rights. He has to prove he's the father if you're not married which means you'd have to allow for a paternity test.
I would definitely see a lawyer but it's been my experience that if you are unmarried the father has no legal rights to the child without proving that he is in fact the dad.
I agree with the other poster though, that if you don't want the baby's father to have any rights that you will leave his name off of the birth certificate - that will help.
