Question

How do I kill the boogeyman?

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

I have a 3 year-old daughter who's been having trouble sleeping through the night. She'll go to bed fine and sleep for a couple of hourse, but then wakes up throug-out the night scared that that the boogeyman is going to get here. I am not sure were the boogeyman came from, I am seperated from her father and I have a feeling he was the one that started the whole thing. Anyways, when she wakes up shes terrified to go back to sleep without myself or someone else. (I live with my mother & 2 sisteres) We've tried convincing her that the boogeyman is gone or died, but she doesn't believe us. Any ideas?

Does her room have a closet? Try opening it and showing her that there's nothing in there to be afraid of. You could also clean up under the bed or pick up things around the room that could potentially look scary after the lights are turned off. You could also try a night-light.

You could also try making up a song that makes the boogieman "disappear," tell her that's what your friend used to do when she was little and she never saw the boogieman again.

I've tried the closet thing & under the bed thing. And we clean her room before she goes to sleep, she also has a night light. She won't sleep without it. I'll definitely try the story idea though, thanks! :)

Give this a try. I would try buying some aromatherapy lavendar spray safe for kids. I've ordered from the air sanitizer from this website as she is a client of mine and I know her essential oils are true and not the adultered forms. Then make your own creative label, and wrap it on the bottle, name it boogey man disappear spray or something that is easy for your 3 year old to understand and see if that doesn't help. The lavendar is soothing and will help her sleep, plus many essential oils have antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties. Then spritz it in the air or on her bedding at nights and say you are spraying boogey man spray to keep him away, kind of like bug spray. Honestly you can do this with any spray but the lavendar in the spray mentioned above really will help her sleep more soundly.

Thats an awesome idea, thank you :)

I have heard of a similar idea that mommyof2princesses wrote about except it was magical fairy dust and they could spray it themselves to keep the bad dreams or boogieman or monsters away. Best of luck to you!!

That would be my answer too~To get some "Monster Spray" and let her see that you are spraying it everywhere so they are all gone! I did this when I went to stay at with my daughter and her family~as he little one would not sleep in his room and when I got there we sprayed it all over his room{I used a little vanilla and water} and he has been sleeping in there since!

Good Luck~I hope one of the ideas work and you both get a good night's sleep.((HUGS))

When my son went through this phase, we gave him a flashlight that only worked when your finger was on the trigger. That way it shut itself off when he wasn't holding it. He didn't like various shadows that his nightlight made, but refused to sleep without a light as well. So, we told him the boogeyman can't live in light, and if he thought he saw one, to shine his flashlight at it and it would go away.

I like the lavender spray idea though too.

I carry a fantastic product in my baby boutiquet....GO AWAY MONSTER SPRAY....and just  a few sprays and the monsters go away.  I also have books about friendly monsters.  These two have really helped a lot of my cstomers.  Go on my site at www.peekabooqet.com and you will see the product.  Having your duaghter in control of the spraying process just may control the boogeyman.  This spray has a great scent of lavender and is all natural.

Good luck, Kim
