I unfortunately have not made too much baby food, but here are some really easy ones:

Sweet potatoes - I just cook them until they're soft and mash with water - baby loves this Smiley
Peas- same thing, I would just buy frozen organic peas, cook them in boiling water - or in the microwave and then puree with water.

The easiest baby food (as one of your baby's first foods) is bananas - just mash up a ripe banana!

A friend of mine told me once that she would cook up a big batch of chicken and vegetable soup and when everything was cooked together and soft, she'd throw it in the blender. I'm sure you can do this with organic veggies and chicken. She froze hers in ice cube trays, then just defrosted when feeding to baby.

Kudos to you for making your own baby food!

Thank you!
Freezing in an ice cube tray is such a great Isea

I use the recipes and information from this website. It is great so far.

I puree different foods about every couple of weeks or whenever we get low in the freezer. The best way to make veggies is to steam them (so not to take any of the nuturients away, microwaving can take away vital nutrients) and then pureeing in my food processor (can use a blender). A tip is to use the water you steamed them iin to make a nice puree (that way you are keeping any nutrients from the steaming). Then scoop them into ice cube trays, cover with foil and freeze. I put the fozen cubes into freezer bags and mark with the date and what it is. These are typically good for up to 8 weeks after you have frozen them.

A couple of books that may help are "First Foods" by Annabel Karmel (great for 4 months - toddler) and "Deceptively Delicious" by Jessica Seinfeld (toddler on up), this one gives you all kinds of ideas on how to hide fruits and veggies in all kinds of foods.

The website above is also great especially at telling you what foods to feed when.

It is so easy to make your own baby food, it takes some prep work but once you have the purees frozen, it takes just the time to warm them. My husband mixes up foods for our son all the time because he likes the system we have as well.

Good luck and have fun!
