Question

Help please! I need a job from home!

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

I am a SAHM of 2 young children. My husband and I don't want to put them in daycare. I don't think I could find a job outside of the home that would make it worth paying for daycare and leaving my children. We really need an extra income in our home. So does anyone have any good suggestions on a home based business that I could do? I need something quick, legit and something that will help me contribute to my household financially. THANKS!

Hey Tracy!

I was you, over 6 months ago! Now, I'm a full time SAHM, and I pay our mortgage every month. So I'm going to share with you what changed everything for me!

I am an independent Representative for Silpada Designs Jewelry. I have the most perfect job in the world! I get paid, on average, about $100 an hour for giving away free Silpada jewelry every week, to women who do something as simple as having a ladies party with friends! The average Rep brings home about $900 a month by doing just one show a week! And that's just part-time!

And I have my shows on weekends when my husband is home to avoid childcare costs. The rest of the time, I work from home. So if you'd like to learn more about what I do, please contact me!

I have found some stay at home work through the website www.hiremymom.com. I would highly recommend it. You pay either about $30 for 3 months or about $100 for a year, and they send you emails about real work from home jobs, and then you apply directly to the company of any positions you are interested in. It is definitely worth the money for me, now I have a position where I make a few hundred bucks a week depending on how much work I do. The jobs lean toward professional jobs, including admin jobs, jobs working on websites, and sales and marketing.

Tracy,
As you can see there are lots of opportunities out there. Before you decide on anything, think about whether you want something that is going to keep you home or whether it will get you out of the house with adults. Which is important to you? Do you want something that requires a specific amount of time on specific dates of the week or do you want to make your own schedule around your family time? Do you want something that is flexible or will you be fine with their schedule? When you want to take off for a vacation, do you want to have to ask for time off, or do you want to re-schedule your own appointments or just not schedule anything on those days? Also, when there is a product involved, how likely are you going to purchase and use the products yourself? I can't sell something that I don't believe in, can you? As your children get older, there will be changes that need to made, will what you are doing be able to adjust? These are food for thought.. It's a big decision, but if you never try, you will never know. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Here are my suggestions on finding a legitimate opportunity that's right for YOU:

- Set your financial goals -- Are you just looking for extra income or a potential full-time income?  How long (and hard) are you willing to work to meet your goal?

- Determine if you are looking for a JOB or a BUSINESS -- there is a distinct difference between the two and you want to focus your energies appropriately for the best results.

- If looking for a JOB, what are your marketable skills and previous experiences?  If you are looking for a BUSINESS, go with your passions, things that interest and motivate you the most.  Build a list and use that to begin your search.  General rule of thumb:  Never pay for a job (businesses, on the other hand, usually involve some expenses).   I recommend checking out the Telecommuting Moms folder here at WAHM.com for leads on home JOBS.  I also have some resources for freelance work and telecommuting jobs on my Work From Home site.

- Review your budget -- know ahead of time what you are willing and able to invest into your business, including start-up costs and ongoing maintenance and promotion.

- Find a rep to contact, check out their websites, ask questions, do your own independent research.  You can get an idea of what others here are doing by visiting the sites listed in our signatures.

Hey Tracy...

I am a consultant with Scentsy. If you have never heard of them, they are unique, wickless, candle systems. They don't have a flame and don't give off soot so they are safe for our children. There is nothing over $30 so you aren't asking ppl to spend a large amount of $$$ they don't have. You can get orders through parties or take online orders straight through your site. It's a fun and great way to make money and meet new people. There is always room for advancement too!!!
