Fussy Baby

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

I am a first time mom and have a one year old boy.  Since he has turned one he is EXTREMEMLY fussy and whiny.  Is this something that is normal until they start to talk?

You weren't very specific in your details so there could be a multitude of answers here. Is he teething with his molars? Is he sleeping well? Have you changed his diet? Is he able to communicate? When is he fussy the most? Track his patterns to see if it is a health issue or something else.  Is he  more fussy at certain times of day or when he is trying to communicate? After a few days of watching his patterns you should be able to figure out what's bothering him. Good Luck!

I have found with my  kids that everytime they were going through a different developmental stage ( learning to walk,talk,ect..) they got a little hard to deal with. Not real sure why, maybe it was stressful for them?

I don't know if this is what is going on with your little one or not. But after checking out all the stuff the that JodiC mentioned maybe you can just offer him some extra cuddles and comfort. Or maybe even some space(time alone in safe place to play or rest quietly).

Try reading ahead in about his next developmental stage and see if he doesnt get a little difficult as it aproaches. Maybe a little heads up will help you cope.

Good luck to you.

I agree with Jodi, see if there is a physical reason. If not, then just have a lot of patience. It'll pass Smiley Both of my kids were extremely fussy off and on from about 9 months until they hit about 3 years old. I think they just get frustrated because they know what they want to do or say but haven't learned quite how to make it happen. Hang in there, it gets better!
