4 month old sleeping on face

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

My 4 month old will roll over to her tummy when I put her in her crib. This doesn't bother me that much, but what does is she prefers to sleep face down! I keep moving her face to one side or the other but she just moves it back to be right in the middle. I don't know what to do...I am nervous that she is going to suffocate. I keep moving her back to her back, but that just gets her crying and she rolls right back over and the cycle starts again. I thought about buying one of those baby positioners, but thought I would see if anyone else has had this problem and what they did.

Thanks

Just an update...

We let her put her face down and watched and waited to see what happened. After a couple minutes she move her head just slightly to the side and now she sleeps with her face to one side.

My 4-month daughter does the same thing! But it's not just when she sleeps in her crib. When she's held and is falling asleep, she has to bury her face in my arms! I think it's just comforting for her to have some kind of contact on her face until she falls asleep. Sometimes when she lays in bed with us, I'll put my face up against the side of her face until she falls asleep and then I can just put her in her crib on her back. It's a funny little thing she does, but it works!

When I put my daughter on her back to sleep she is rolling over as soon as she can. I have moved to just putting her on her tummy because she wakes herself up trying to roll over.

She still puts her face down more than I would like, but she doesn't ever stay in one position for very long.
