I had a similar problem... to get some sanity. I got a swing. The swing cradled him and i guess the swinging motion helped. But more than anything I think it was that he felt like he was being held. Also have you tried a swaddling blanket? Naps went from about 15 minutes to atleast 45 minutes

Yes I have tried swaddling and that does not seem to help. We also have a swing and sometimes he will fall asleep in it but he will not stay asleep.

We had a similar problem as well, hopefully 2 weeks later it is getting a little better, but my son didn't start sleeping longer until he got to be more active (rolling and sitting up), 4.5 - 5 months. I just did anything I could think of; putting him in the swing, going for a walk (even an hour walk to get him to sleep longer), Running errands (will he fall asleep in the car)? If he fell asleep in the stroller or in the car I would bring his infant seat inside and put it in the crib. He liked the cuddling feeling it gave him (kind of like the swing) and kept him sleeping longer.
We also tried swaddling, he really enjoyed that until about 3 months, then we started using the Fisher Price aquarium. I also remember at 3 months having him sleep in my arms sometimes! I figured if he was sleeping then I would take it. He is 6.5 months old now and sleeps fine in his crib. In fact he would rather be in there then me holding him. Good Luck!

I agree - my 3 month old tends to fall asleep best for daytime naps in my arms or next to me curled up on the couch. She is very squirmy so we still swaddle, although not all the time during the daytime naps. Mine also likes to sleep in her swing or in the car. I will say to try whatever you can to find something that works, because I have DEFINITELY noticed a connection between daytime napping and night time sleep. When she naps better during the day (4-5 hrs broken up over 3-5 naps) she seems to sleep better at night. She is also in a much better mood.
