First thing is to consult his/her doc. to rule out medical problems. If thats good they will probably refer you to a pychologist. Good luck.

PermalinkMy 11.5 year old once in a great while still has this happen. BUT...its only when he's gotten OVERLY tired, drank alot before bed, etc. The last time was when we were camping in June at the Ichthus Music Festival-hello, portapotties! Yeah he didnt get woken up and out of his sleeping bag in time. I just make a point to not make a big deal about it, he's already embarrassed enough by it.
Is it a random thing with your child?

PermalinkLet me tell you from experience doctors will most likely tell you he will have to grow out of it. I wet the bed until I was 13!! I am 25 now. It is something that you just can't help. It's not because you are lazy and don't want to get up. You just have no clue it has happened until you wake up. Please be patient with him and make sure he knows it is ok. My parents took me to the doctor several times before they told us I would have to out grow it.
I think one thing you can do that I believe helped me is my mom used to get up like 2 times a night and wake me up and make me go to the bathroom. Eventually I started waking up on my own. I hope this helps.
