Trick or treating supports a satanic holiday?

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

A growing trend of parents do not allow their children to trick or treat in the belief that it is somehow showing support for a pagan holiday. While there is a lot of debate on the actual truth behind Halloween being "the devil's" holiday, many parents are choosing not to allow their kids to trick or treat?

What do you think? Does allowing your child to trick or treat go against Christian values? Did you or do you let your kids trick or treat?

It's well-known (or should be) that many of our major Christian holidays have pagan roots. Christmas, Easter, and Halloween all do. But people seem to confuse paganism with satanism, and they're not the same thing. Paganism was a primitive, polytheistic religion with many deities. It's very pastoral and they were very in tune with nature. You might say they worshipped nature. Satanists actually worship Satan. Big difference.

And Catholics in Mexico and elsewhere see Halloween as a religious holiday. Halloween is All Hallowed Eve, and Nov. 1 is Day of the Dead. Those are big parts of the religion for some people, so there's some basis in Christianity there. People should really read up on the history behind ALL holidays before they leap to such conclusions.

I agree. I think it's presumptious to assume that by allowing your kids to go trick or treating that you are somehow being evil. I know my kids know nothing of paganism and I think that if they asked me about it, it would be a good time to talk about different religions and what they believe and not be so quick to jump to conclustions.

I look at it like this: if a parent is letting their child go trick or treating, they're letting them dress up for fun to go ask for candy.

If a parent is giving their child sermons on witchcraft and teaching them demonic rituals whilst drawing satan's stars, then it's against Christian beliefs.

I've never read about the origin of Halloween or investigated what it dates back to or can symbolize, but I want to stay away from all of that anyway. I don't care to know what some might believe. I don't believe it and don't teach my daughter to believe/practive it, so I don't believe it is not supporting anything satanic.

thank you lovelyboys

I let my little one trick-or-treat!  It's all about having fun.  I know and God knows that we do not worship Satan so I don't feel I have anything to worry about :)
