Hi, I live in Phoenix Arizona. I am a new mother of a 7 month old little boy. He doesn't have any special needs that I am aware of. However, I did give birth to a little girl who spent 6 weeks in the NICU before she passed away. I also work as a special ed teacher/administrator in a school with special needs children, mostly autistic and MR. I faciliate IEP meetings for all of the students (215) on our campus and deal with parents of children with special needs daily. I admire and applaud all of you. I am pretty up on IDEA and if anyone needs to know anything about parent rights just PM me.

I am a mom of 7 children. My adolescent girls work for a volunteer group called Friendship Circle which is an inclusive afterschool program for children with special needs. These adolescents pair up with girls with mild learning disabilities to children with severe autism, epilpsey, etc to play games, teach them crafts and just to have a friend.
I have introduced many moms to a safer, easier way to a healthier home for their children who need a healthier non-toxic environment.
Please take the healthy home tour and see if this is helpful.

NAMI Knoxville
Hi, I'm a NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) affiliate president and mother of 17-year-old David, who was diagnosed with autism and bipolar disorder at age 3. After zillions of doctor visits and IEP meetings, I know that getting services for our kids with ADHD, autism, psychiatric or developmental problems can seem overwhelming. That's why I wrote Team Up for Your Child: A Step-By-Step Guide to Working Smarter with Doctors Schools, Insurers and Agencies. In this mom-friendly workbook, you'll find easy charts and checklists that turn a bewildering mess into tasks you can handle. Sponsored by NAMI Tennessee, it was created with a panel of 23 health and education professionals--as well as dozens of moms who contributed their tips and tricks for making a tough parenting job easier. Find Team Up for Your Child at www.meltonhillmedia.com.
