I'm a 40+ mom in outside of Detroit, Michigan. I guess we need to get this group going!
I am a first-time mom with a football crazy 3 y.o. son. I guess you guys have built-in helpers or does it work that way for you? My sis has a daughter who is 3 and then 12 and 14 y.o. They are great help. Too bad they don't live closer!

Happy Monday!
I'm a syndicated humor columnist who writes and sends in her columns from home, here in Concord, NC. (next to Charlotte and home of lots of NASCAR stuff). Basically, my job's been a great excuse to have my own office--the only room in the house where no one is allowed to TOUCH anything w/o permission!
My kids are 18 and 15, but I tell you, it still requires a lot of balancing between Mommying and working--it just looks different from when they were in elementary school or diapers--but the constant juggling is still there.
The worst and best thing about being a newspaper columnist is the deadline. I hate it, but I'd never get anything done on a weekly basis if I didn't have one. Today is one of those days I'd like to quit and iron instead of writing. How bad is that???
I'm 43 now, but when my friend and I turned 40 (both near Christmas b-days) we decided instead of lying about our age and saying we're 39, we'd ADD 5 years to our age so people would think we look really good for our age!
You can read some of my stuff, see pics and learn more about me here:

Hello everyone! I guess I belong to this group as of tomorrow because I will be celebrating my 40th birthday. I have a 7 month old. Yes, my only child. My husband and I got married in our 30's. We waited for awhile before attempting to have children. About 4 years ago I got pregnant and had a little girl born prematurly at 30 weeks. I had a sudden onset of severe pre-eclampsia. My daughter, Zaria, lived for 6 weeks in the NICU. We were devestated when she passed away from complications of prematurity. The doctors told me I needed to wait a year before we tried again. So we did. Then it took another year to get pregnant and then I miscarried that one at 9 weeks. Then the doctors told me that they wanted me to go to fertility docs so we didn't have to wait so long. That took 4 months and here we are with a wonderful, healthy little 7 month old boy, Zackary. I love him dearly but sometimes I wish I didn't wait so long to try to start a family. We are from Phoenix Arizona.

Hello Fellow Fabulous 40 Moms
I was married in my late 30s and then had our four-year-old Cosette (or Coco) and it has been great. I know so many other 40+ers and it has been great. I was in corporate marketing, public relations and marketing for professional services firms. After years of travelling for business and missing out on enjoying motherhood, I threw in the towel and started on online baby and children's boutique -- www.somethingaboutbaby.com. It allows me to work from home and take time to volunteer at her preschool, cook real food, and other things that aren't crammed into the weekend. So far, so good!

Hi Everyone! As an older mom, it is so wonderful to have a network of moms that span my older daughters generation (29 yrs old!) and keep me in touch with younger moms, keeping me sharp and "with it" for my younger set, 9, 14 and 16 yr old girls!
I have found that as an older mom we are a little looser about "THE RULES" that many younger moms have. I can re-invent myself, evolve creatively, and do what I need to to reach my goals!
I am 54 years old (which makes me the dinosaur here! I have worked as an administrator for an Alcohol Treatment Program, had a ceramic studio for 13 yrs, wrote on Zoetroppe.com , did a stint as a national speaker on domestic violence and adolescent bullying.....and now(drum roll please)
I have a stay at home business, with an Inc 50 company dedicated to helping families with wonderful eco-safe products!
Doing a world of good for the good of the world.
Helping mothers and others work from home!

Hi Everyone,
My name is Linda and I am 42 and have 2 kids, girl who is 7 and a boy who is 6. I met my husband in my late twenties, so motherhood started late for me. I must say they keep young, or I like to think so.
I work out of the house 4 days a week for 2 different companies in their accounting departments. I also work 2 home businesses that I'm hoping someday to do well enough to stay home with my kids.
I just found this site tonight and am a big time message board addict.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Danette and I'm in my early forties and have 5 children. One girl and 4 boys(my last 2 are twins) I too was in my early thirties when I started having children. Can you say busy ! Volunteering at school, taking them to sports, coaching softball, helping with homework, playing games and enjoying them all! I wouldn't be able to do as much as I do if I don't have such a wonderful biusiness.
Taste of Home Entertaining has given me the opportunity to work form home around my families schedule, given me the opportunity to meet lots of stay at home moms and earn income, earn trips and lots more! I never thought I could earn waht I'm amking with a direct selling company!
check it out and see if this is something you may want to pursue!

I am a 50 year old mother of 2 boys aged 27 and 25. I am also the Nana to a wonderful 3 year old grandson who I babysit and am still able to work my home based business as well. Seems like all the other moms here have young kids. I seem to be the dinosaur with grown sons and learning what it is like to have a 3 year old around all the time.

Hi all,
I am a forty something mom with 3 children, 22, 20, 14. My oldest (daughter) just graduated college and moved into her own place last week!! My son is in is third yr of college and has his own place (on campus) during the school year. My youngest (daughter) is a freshmen in high school and I feel like I have never had a child in high school before. It is very different from just a few years ago.
My husband and I have been married for 23 years and love being parents. They are all in different stages of their lives and we love every minute of it (almost). I hope to be able to talk to other Moms about life, and fears of raising our children in the years to come. The trials and tribulations of teenager life, as well as letting go of them when they are ready (even though we are not). I hope to hear from anyone soon!

I am a 44 year old Mom to a 19 month old daughter!!! (Adopted domestically at birth. My husband and I got married when he was 40 and I was 37! YES - people can't beleive it - the first marriage for both. Trying to get pregnant by ourselves did not work - fertility finally did - pregnant with twins and then miscarried at 3 months. So - we went the adoption route! Being her parents is awesome! We live in Louisiana and are in a large playgroup. I think I am by far the oldest Mommy with the youngest child! Not suprised!
