My 9 month old will not nap or go down for the night easily. This is not a new pattern. He has been like this for months and has never slept through the night. I have tried everything and am exhausted because my 9 month old requires less sleep than me. It takes nearly 2 hours each day to try to get him to sleep. he shows no signs of being tired nor acts cranky. He has to be moving.

I know the feeling! I have a 3 year old who just doesn't want to sleep very many hours day or night! I'm going to start using natural lavender ... Read it

I think we mostly know this, but it's interesting that they actually did a study on it. http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/09/14/bedtime.children/

Ha ha! Me too! And of course if SHE doesn't get enough sleep, usually I don't either. Grr.... Read it

Oh gosh that's so hard. And exactly why I had added that we each have to do what works for our particular family and child. Mine did that a couple of ... Read it

I need some advice here......My 5 1/2 month old daughter doesn't sleep very much. She fights her naps so much that she only takes a few 10 minute naps during the day. She yawns and rubs her eyes all the time but doesn't like to take naps. For the most part, she really isn't fussy. She's a very happy baby.

Jaime,I see that this post is old but we are having a similar issue with our daughter so I was just curious to know if you ever found a good solution for ... Read it

File this under "things that keep you up at night" (otherwise known as: I'm trying to stretch this to justify posting it on the Sleep Forum when it's not really sleep related!)

Colic/Sleep Problems :(

Well I joined a bunch of parenting sites in hopes of finding some solutions for Colic. I would appreciate any insight or advice from parents here at MothersClick.
In my search I did come across what looks like a live q&a session on another parenting site so hopefully I can ask more questions there. I think its this Monday

My baby was not exactly colicky, but she did go through a (relatively) short phase of seemingly endless crying (in reality it was nothing like what a friend ... Read it

Can't sleep.......

My 19 month old had been sleeping in her bed in her room. She would go to sleep around 8:30 or 9:00pm and sleep until 8:00am. All of a sudden one night she would not stay in her bed and would just scream. Since then I have not been able to get her back in her bed or even to sleep at night. She is now sleeping with me but it's usually midnight or later before I can get her to settle down.

I would think your 4-year old would do better with the "fairy dust" because she will understand that it is a pretend thing but will enjoy it anyway. Plus it ... Read it

Scared of the Dark!

My boyfriend's daughter is so afraid of the dark. We try staying with her until she falls asleep (which works great unless she wakes up in the middle of the night!) We've tried leaving a light on, night lights, cracking the door...just about everything. I'm just really stumped on new things to try....any suggestions out there?...or is it a wait it out kind of thing?

I think it sounds more like she's afraid to be alone. How old is she and how long have you been seeing her father? Anita Burnham www.anitaburnham.com... Read it

Best Sleeping Advice Ever!

I just had to share this.  My 3 yr old son has been having trouble sleeping for a few months now and therefore I have been getting no sleep.  Then my girlfriend told me about Pepsom which is an epsom salt product.  I started giving my son baths in Pepsom before bed and miraculously he started sleeping threw the night again with no problems.  I am indebted to my girlfriend for t

Thanks for the tip! Any idea on why it works? Epsom salts are usually used for muscle soreness/swelling, so maybe it eases tired legs? The only thing I'd be ... Read it

Sleep tidbit in the news

Just thought I'd share this article I just came across. http://health.usnews.com/usnews/health/healthday/080407/too-little-sleep...

By the way, I forgot to mention that my own, co-sleeping daughter is about as far from being overweight as a kid can be. Though she does have days when ... Read it

I am very happy to report that we have reached the 10-sticker milestone on the quest to get my daughter to stay in her bed! She got 4 stickers in the past 5 nights, so I feel like we're finally getting into a solid routine. I realized I had to adjust my expectations somewhat after we moved and got off track.

Welcome!

It seems like all new parents experience some problems -- or at least anxiety -- with sleep at some point during the first couple of years. This is the place to come to swap advice with other sleep-deprived (or just concerned) parents. I should note that I followed an attachment parenting style with my daughter, meaning she co-slept with my husband and I.
