In the corner next to the vending machine
I have taken to hiding when I eat candy bars. I'm really embarrassed to
admit this, since I've always been one of those girl power type of
chicks. Eat what you want, look how you want, don't care what other
people think. I've never had a weight problem. After having my son, I
received compliments on how well I had "kept my figure". I was rather
annoyed by this. Having children is a life changing event, why do
people always point out your figure. It only makes you more self
conscious about your body and makes you feel like you need to may more
attention to it than is really necessary.
I could of cared
less how my body looked at that point anyway. I was more concerned
about what my brain was doing. It was tired. I had serious anxiety
issues. I was trying to finish grad school, work full time and
breastfeed my son. I got all caught up in the "supermom" thing. I still
do.
So I spent a year on medication to help me deal. Then we
moved to a different state and I started a new job. We had to live at
my in-laws house until we found an apartment, then we moved into a
house. The stress got worse and there was something about eating
excessive amounts of chocolate that made me feel safe. I think other
people were noticing too. At xmas when my parents were visiting, I
pulled out two Caramelo bars. My dad was shocked. "You're going to eat
two of those". So I made some silly comment and put the second one away
again. Now, the only way I feel I can eat chocolate is for some one to
offer it to me or to eat it by myself while I'm at home. Or, standing
in the corner next to the vending machine.

Don't feel the need to hide it, I'm a BIG chocolate lover myself. You work full-time, go to school and have a son, give yourself a break and eat whatever candy you want!
It sounds like you are trying to do way too much!
I think, a lot of moms do that myself included. Which btw, Land-o-Lakes makes an awesome mint chocolate coco. That may be a lower-fat alternative.
Try doing things to de-stress. Undercover binge eatting is never a good idea. Try exercising, bubble baths, chewing gum, write down your worries, read the Message, etc.

Well, I'm not sure if candy bars are really good for your health, woman or not. I personally only have chocolate once every two weeks.
Here are ways to keep yourself distracted:
1. Play a video game. I know my daughter likes to play the Fashion Fantasy Game. It sure keeps her distracted. Sometimes I have to drag her out to eat dinner.
2. Take up a sport. My other daughter likes doing Karate.
3. Read a book.
Just my two cents. But gorging yourself on chocolate is bad for anyone, even men (like my husband).
