Win the new book How to Raise the Perfect Dog - CLOSED

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

If you're a dog lover, I have a new show and a book giveaway just for you!

First up, it's the return of Dog Whisperer tonight (October 9) at 9:00 on National Geographic Channel. Acclaimed dog behavior expert Cesar Millan is back with his pals Daddy and Junior and they're going to help out some pups that need to get their tails on straight.

Junior is a pit bull pup Cesar hopes will someday assist him with his toughest cases now that his trusted right hand Daddy is nearing retirement. Daddy and Cesar have been a team since Daddy was four months old, and any fan of Dog Whisperer knows Daddy accompanies Cesar on many of his hardest cases — including a visit with Oprah! But with age come limitations. So, in order to ease Daddy into retirement, Cesar adopted the first young puppy for his puppy project — Junior.

Daddy and Junior were instantly attracted to one another, and thus Junior joined Cesar's pack. Next Cesar selects a Labrador pup to join the pack. Southern California Labrador Retriever Rescue brings two labs to Cesar’s Dog Psychology Center. Cesar is immediately drawn to the calm, submissive male, whom Cesar slowly introduces to the pack at the center. The pack mentality of all the dogs has never been clearer, as you can see firsthand how — with no human interaction — the pack slowly takes in the new puppy. Cesar eventually names this little guy Marley, after one of the world's most famous bad dogs (the subject of last year’s hit movie “Marley & Me,” about the life of Cesar’s client and friend John Grogan).

I know you'll enjoy getting reacquainted with Cesar and his pups, and you may learn a thing or two about animal (and human) behavior! It all begins tonight and happens every Friday at 9:00 on the National Geographic Channel.

GIVEAWAY

To celebrate the return of Dog Whisperer, we have Cesar Milan's brand new book to giveaway courtesy of National Geographic Channel. The book is called How to Raise the Perfect Dog: Through Puppyhood and Beyond.

When I flipped through the book, I had to laugh. There were sections on baby gates and safety, separation anxiety and connecting through play! This may be a book about dog care, but it sounds like our kids could benefit, too.

If you'd like to win How to Raise the Perfect Dog, just leave us a comment telling us about your dog. You can even post a picture on the site, just make sure you link the picture to the comment so we know to include you.

Deadline to enter is Friday, October 16 at midnight PST.

US residents only, please.

It sounds like a great book! We are moving soon and hoping to get a dog shortly thereafter. Something like this could come in handy. :)

With 7 kids and two dogs, teaching the dogs to be "perfect" will be a great project for the whole family!  Definitely something we could use, given certain naughty behaviors of our furry children.

Our dog Bella went from a "no takers" dog at the SPCA (the words "runs away" kinda put people off I think) to our own personal couch potato.   She's a German Shepherd-Mastiff mix & the fact that she likes to sleep sideways didn't help matters much - we had to switch from a queen to a king-sized bed!

I wish I had this book when my little Allie came into my life.He is a 12 yr old pomapoo and has been my baby since he was 6 weeks old. We are together almost 24/7 and when I do have to leave him for a couple of hours he has serious seperation anxiety.

Right now we don't have a dog.  Our dog died from congestive heart failure.  I miss him so much.  When we are ready to get a new puppy this book would be great so we could start him or her off right.

My dog is a black lab/chow chow mix and is such a sweet boy. He definately does have some behavior problems though that I would love to deal with. He chooses when he wants to listen to us (which is pretty much never) and wont stop barking whenever someone passes by outside our house.

He is such a darling though and he is wonderful at breaking up fights that rarely occur between the cats. He just loves us so much and he shows it on his face every second of every day.

I love our Foxy, but I was reading another of his books that tells me I have lots more to learn about not treating her as a human.

Taffy; the perfect cocker spaniel, used to watch over the little ones as they potty trained!

I have a 205 lb Great Dane & an Australian Shepherd Mix but what I really want the book for is the multitude of foster puppies I get at my house.  I work for a local animal rescue group and this book would be a very valuable resource for us!

I have four doggies, one big mixed breed and three little dachshunds.  Recently I've had to keep my mix and my youngest dachshund seperated.  I sure wish I could get the dog whisperer to pay us a personal visit!

I'd really love to have the book, I bet it's a great read.

Thank you for the chance!  :)
