Black Friday
Believe it or not, there is now a name for the biggest shopping day of the year - Black Friday. The name alone is enough to keep me away from those crazy crowds!
I have never been a fan of this phenomenon. I get up early enough on the weekdays, why get up to be at Mervyn's at 4am?? Are the deals really that amazing? Am I missing out on all the savings? It sure seems like these sales go on for over a month, but the stores must be doing something to get these people out shopping all on the same day.
Don't get me wrong, I love it when the stores display all the fun holiday decorations - it's beautiful! But, the other 30 days I have to enjoy them are enough for me.

My MIL and I usually go shopping before the sun comes up on Black Friday. We have a list of what gifts we need to get for Xmas, check the ads and hit the stores that have the best deals. We don't go just to shop - we're on a mission
And some stores have "door busters" and extra coupons in the paper, so yeah, sometimes it is worth it to be there at 4am. But, I'm an early bird anyway, so that's easy for me to say. :)
