Side effects
I had the mirena inserted the first week of December, thinking I was doing the right thing. The phamplet listed side effects, but they seemed no different than anything other form of BC. However, in the past two weeks, I have started having these sensations, kind of like warm, tingly feelings that would run from my head to my toes. My heart would palpate and I'd feel like my pulse was racing. I then had tingling in two fingers on my left side. last week I went for my 6-week follow-up and was told everything was fine. But this week has been a total nightmare. I've had anxiety attacks all week, especially at night. I would have heart palpatations, the left side of my head started tingling then it went into my face. I have just sit down and cried and cried....fearing the worst that I was going to die and leave my son motherless. I went today to have it removed...and I hope that all these effects quickly subside and I get back to normal. From reading other posts, it seems others have had similar experiences. I would never recommend this to anyone as a form of birth control. I realize that some have no issues, but everyone is not the same and these "additional" side effects should definately be posted on the mirena website as well as in their literature that is provided to the public.

I recently had a Mirena IUD inserted. The first attempt on February 6th was unsuccessful. It was very painfuland I cried. I was having a hard time staying still but was trying very hard to stay calm. they did get it in but it fell out when the dr. was cutting the string. I then went for a second attempt on February 11th. I was sedated because i told the doctor I would never go through that again. I did not feel much that time. It is in and the first couple of days I was pain free. It was 3 days later that I got strong cramps. I took pain killers and it was not helping. I could not sleep so I tried heat and the pain would go away for a little while but would come back. I went through 2 days of severe pain. I went a whole week without having a bowel movement but the doctor did not seem concerned. I do have Irratible Bowel syndrome and am thinking that that could be the cause to having very few bowel movements. I am not sure though. I have not had any bleeding yet and have pain sometimes. I have had the IUd for 12 days now and am feeling some pain. I am not sure if it is gonna get worse or not. I have had painful periods in the past from my endometriosis and was told that the mirena IUD is a good option for me. I am scared that I am gonna get these weird symptoms like I have read on the internet. I don't know what I should do?
