Mirena IUD YUCK!
I have had my IUD for over a year and I want it out. I have all the same concerns as many of you. I started having headaches about a week after having it placed. I have gained 12 lbs. (after hiring a trainer). I now have acne on my face and back, I am bloated and cramp all the time. To top it off, I have started having spotting every two weeks and I am having hair loss. I kept thinking that all these symptoms were related to the IUD but my sister-in-law has had nothing but bliss with her mirena iud. We got them the same month last year. Reading all of your stories has helped me make the decision to have it removed. I am going to make an appointment after the holidays.
Thanks Ladies!

I had the IUD in for 6 months and just got it taken out 4 days ago and have not stopped bleeding and on my right side up in there it hurts so bad.. It hurts to even pee and my husband and I can not even attempt to have sex. Is it normal for it to hurt this bad after removing it? And I agree I have hated it because of the same reasons bad headaches, crying all the time, feeling depressed, angry, and I have gained 10 lbs and I run 4 miles everyday and eat super super healthy.
i thought i was crazy until i read all the horror stories about mirena. i have had such sever mood swings people have been telling me they think im bipolar. i have also had severe acne and feel so tired all the time. not to mention the headaches i have daily. i am getting it out today and hopefully can go back to feeling like me and my son can get his mother back.
I just swiched obgyn's and this PA wants to take me off the pill immediately and put me on mirena. My friend suggested I do some research and I'm so glad I did. I'm 46 years old. 5'2" 108 pounds and in great health. No medical issues. I eat well and have worked with a personal trainer for 2 years. Everything I'm reading says there's no reason to go off the pill so why is this PA so determined that I'm at risk for a stroke or heart attack. What should I do?
Cabigirl - Just wanted to respond...I'm 43 years old and had three strokes three years ago. I was on birth control pills for 20 years and am sure that's what caused the strokes. I just got married for the first time (!) 6 months ago...and need some kind of birth control...but pills are out of the question. I just got Mirena last week and am going in tomorrow to get it taken out. Just wanted to tell you that I think being on the pill for 20 years caused my strokes....so I would not recommend that at all. Especially to anyone over 40 years old. What should you do? I have no idea...My husband and I use condoms...ugh...I really don't know what to do...Just wanted to warn you about birth control though.
I am so glad I found all of this out! I have a 17 yr old daughter and she was saying she wanted to get the mirena. No Way! Not after reading all of this!
long and behold my IUD fall out .. i had it for 6 months and was very crampy 1 day i went to check red blood and the marinea in my hand eww...but i'm very happy i had a lot of side effets .. i dnt think i would get it put back in .. i was getting bad chest pain all that is gone now ...
I just removed my Mirena IUD. Since i have had mine i have been bleeding for 6 months strait, Then in the past couple of months i have had very bad headaches. Then to top it off I'am 20 years old and had 2 tia's (mini strokes) That where caused by it. I had to go strait from the emergency room to the gyno that is a family friend, and he took it out. My regular gyno said it would be 800 dollars to take it out, insurance wouldnt cover, they encourage to keep it in 5 years, but of course he didnt realize it was life threatning. Know i have to go see a specialist and take aspirin every day. And i cant no longer take birth control becuase of the amount of hormones.
