Mirena IUD

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

I had an IUD for five years and just had it taken out on Wednesday.  I have gained weight that will not come off.  I have gone to the gym faithfully 4-days per week since February doing both cardio and weights and have lost NO weight.  Can someone tell me how long it took to see some weight loss after removal of the IUD?  I had the "throat" issue where when you went to swallow it felt like something was in your throat, bloated, moodiness, water retention, etc.  I talked with my OBGYN and she told me numerous times nothing I was experiencing was from my IUD.  I am thankful to know maybe I will get back to my old self with this thing gone!  I am going for a CBC on Monday and I'll go from there - what a miserable five years and if it was the IUD how misleading is their marketing!

I have had the IUD for a year and a half now. I have been experiencing palpitations ( which I got put on heart medicine for), acne like I am a teenager, extremely embarrassing weight gain. I weighed 160 when I got the IUD, I kept working out like I had before and minded what I ate, but it didn't matter, the pounds just came overnight. I ballooned to 230 in a matter of months. I no longer feel like myself!  My ankles look like I am pregnant, and I am so moody. It doesnt take much to make me cry.  I never thought that any of my symptoms would be attributed to the IUD, but seeing how many women are experiencing the same problems that I am while on it, I am calling my doctor in the morning to get this thing out. I want my life back, I want to feel sexy again
