Fan in baby's room may help prevent SIDS
How many moms wake up every 10 minutes or so to ensure their sleeping baby is still OK? The possibility of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) can be terrifying to any new parent. We are taught to put our newborns to bed on their backs and to be sure there are no loose blankets with them in the crib, all to help keep them breathing well throughout the night.
A new study released yesterday gives hope to parents everywhere. As stated in USA Today, researches have found that having a fan running in a baby's room may actually help to prevent SIDS. Babies who slept in a room with a fan were 72% less likely to die from SIDS, especially if the room they were in was warm. The doctors are not exactly sure why the fans help, but it may have to do with the constant circulation of air, preventing exhaled carbon dioxide from building up in between the baby's face and the mattress.
Adding a fan to your infant's room sounds like a pretty simple way to help keep your baby safe and let you get some peace of mind!
