This is a public group to discuss experiences, get advice and share with others regarding the Mirena IUD.
Elated that I'm not the only one with these problems!
OMG! I'm soooo glad I found this site! When reading this blog and the responses my jaw literally dropped. I never thought that my issues could possibly be from the IUD. I just had to call my husband and tell him what I have read. I have been experiencing most of the symptoms that most of you have encountered.
Okay, I have 3 children.....I decided to get the IUD after my 3rd child was born. After 5 years I got my IUD replaced with a new one. It have been approximately 5 years that I have been experiencing weight problems, severe migranes, hairloss, backpain, acne, dizzy spells, stomach tenderness (sometimes with slight pains), nipple soreness/tenderness, mood swings, bloading, slight stings in my private area&lately I've been gasy. The only good thing I can say about the IUD is that I don't get any periods. I would very rarely get light spotting, but it would last for a day or two. Then I would say that would occur like every 5 to 6 months.
My husband loves that I have the IUD (of course lol), he doesn't get "poked" by it or feel it at all (I've read that on some sites). When I first got my IUD I didn't feel any pain at all, but when I got it replaced by another OBGYN it hurted a lot. I would say the pain lasted about a week. Now that I read everyone's symptoms I think I'm going to make a trip to the doctor to see what she think about all this. I've been to the doc many times and complained about my symptoms and she never told me it could be from the IUD. My husband is now telling me to get it removed after I told him about this site, but I'm uncertain.
Thank you all! This has been very helpful and I'm thankful that I found this site!

I have had the same issues. As soon as it was out I had no headaches, lost 5 lbs and wasn't bloated anymore. It hurts like hell when they put it in. I had the 10 year one first then the 5 year Mirena. The 10 year was great except for the heavy periods. But there were NO side effects, unlike Mirena. If I get one again it will be the 10 year Paraguard.
