I got the Mirena IUD Oct 2007. I had a copper IUD before this one for 10 years. I have always used IUD's and have never taken a birth control pill. When I went in to have another IUD put in my Dr suggested the Mirena. I wondered why he would want me to change since I have had such good luck with the one I had. I just figured that it was due to my age and the Mirena was good for 5 yrs and I would probably be to old to have kids after that. I read the info on it and looked it up on the computer and it seemed to be ok. I had just started taking a lower dose of thyroid medication (i have hypothyroidism) and after being the same weight for the last 5-6 yrs had gained about 5 lbs, but after getting the new IUD my appetite seemed to triple. I never felt full. I am too scared to get on the scale now. I know I have gained a bunch since my clothes won't fit anymore and when I see pictures of myself I see the old me when I had full blown Hypothryroidism and had swollen up. I have no energy anymore, don't wont to get dressed in the mornings to go to work and haven't had a period since it was put in. I finally decided to do more research and typed in Mirena&side effects and thats when I found this site. You don't know if its just you or something causing all the problems .. I sure hope its this IUD and just like you all I can't wait to have it removed. I also have the blurred vision and just thought it was due to my age. My hair was falling out bad but that was before I got the Mirena and suspected too high a dose of Thyroid medicine. My stomach is swollen to the point where I look 9 monhs pregnant. After lunch today I had so much bloating it was horrible. My lower back hurts but I thought it was due to weight gain. Just recently started having sharp pains in my lower left side under my stomach. I am making a appointment tomorrow!
