I'm afraid I havent' been reading much this summer. What I have read has been short, mostly magazine articles (hanging my head in shame LOL). You would think being a writer, I would read more. The last thing I remember reading was Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult. My sister has the new Jodi Picoult book waiting for me to read but she says I'm not allowed to have it until I finish and give back the other ones first.
Right now I'm reading an old X-Files novel because I started watching the old episodes on Syfy and I'm totally hooked again.
After that I have the new John Sandford, Wicked Prey novel on my stack. I love the Prey series. He's a fabulous writer and I aspire to be just like him!
Oh, I also have Up for Renewal, a fun book about one woman's attempt to fix up her life based on the advice of the popular women's magazines. I'm actually reviewing this book for Mothersclick and we'll have copies to give away soon!
I'm reading "my life in France" by Julia Child. It's a very lightweight memoir, very nicely written.
Have you seen the movie? It's funny.
I grew up watching Julia Child. She was quite a woman, wasn't she? I wanted to see the new movie but haven't made it to the theater in a month now! I miss my movie outings.
I never watched Julia Child actually, I didn't grow up in the States. However, the funny thing was that the theater was full of people who apparently had watched and loved her - every time Meryl Streep opened her mouth people started laughing! It was hilarious!
She's very good., I'm sure you'll enjoy the movie.
I finally started the twilight seriers. Loved the first two, the third is okay.
Nikki, I loved Keeping Faith! What did you think of it?
I have wanted to see the Julie and Julia movie. Has anyone here seen it? If so what did you think of it?
Tammi, I wish I could tell you that book 4 improves, but I really didn't like it. What was it you didn't like about Eclipse?
I just finished reading the Lace Reader and it was amazing! It really keeps you guessing for those of you who like a good mystery. I also just finished Pride and Prejudice and Zombies which was really funny. I liked it so much better than just the original - I know that sounds crazy....
Lace Reader, huh? Haven't heard of that one. I'll check it out.
As for Zombies -- they're all the rage these days. I guess vampires have become to common.
One thing about the books I read - I almost never read books in first person and so many of the new myteries are written that way so that really puts me off.
I loved Keeping Faith. It had one of those endings that made me say "Really? That's it???" I expected there to be so much more to that ending. It really left me wondering!
My sister loaned me the newest one, "Handle with Care" I started reading it one day at the library and forgot to check it out so when I told my sister it wasn't fair to leave me hanging... she let me borrow it. I'm not really far into it but I have a feeling I am going to love it.
