My son was almost 4 before he was fully potty trained. It took a lot to get him to that poiint and I tried a lot of different things. What I found worked best was praise and rewards. When he used the potty successfully, we would sing a song together and I would tell him what a big awesome boy he was. If he didn't wet the bed or went to the restroom all day, when we went on trips grocery shopping I would reward him with a small toy.
