Fan in baby's room may help prevent SIDS
How many moms wake up every 10 minutes or so to ensure their sleeping baby is still OK? The possibility of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) can be terrifying to any new parent. We are taught to put our newborns to bed on their backs and to be sure there are no loose blankets with them in the crib, all to help keep them breathing well throughout the night.
Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) Seen as Safe
There's some good news today for soon to be moms who are interested in testing for genetic defects during the early stages of pregnancy. A new study was released today which stated that chorionic villus sampling (otherwise known as CVA) does not appear to raise the risk of miscarriage.

Flu Season Already??
Was I surprised this afternoon when I took in my 18 month old for her "well toddler" check up and the doctor suggested she get her flu vaccine- today!! Isn't it still summer? I can't believe we have to start thinking about this already. But I guess with school starting and the weather on the way to cooling down, we once again will be doing what we can to protect our kids and ourselves.

It seems that these number words, may not be necessary.
Unhealthy Restaurant Meals for Kids
A new study reported by Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080804/...) has revealed something that most parents who take their kids out to restaurants already know, many of the meals served specifically for the kids, are not very healthy. The report studied kids' meals from 13 major restaurant chains.
Another Reason to Turn off the TV
Growing up we never (and I mean NEVER) had the television on during dinner. Of course, when I became and adult and lived on my own, most meals were spent on the couch with the TV on. Not sure where that bad habit originated, but there's a new study out giving us another reason to turn off the TV and enjoy a family meal together.
