INTERESTED IN A JOB IN RETAIL? VISIT SHERWAY GARDEN'S HOLIDAY JOB FAIR!

October 4, 2008 1:30pm
25 The West Mall
Toronto, ON M9C 1B8
Canada

Looking for a job in retail this holiday season? Visit Sherway Gardens Holiday Job Fair (Hwy 427 & the QEW) on Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 9:30am until 6:00pm in Sherway Square. Participating stores will be conducting onsite interviews for seasonal and permanent staff, so come prepared with resumes in-hand.

The Holiday Job Fair will include such retailers as The Bay, Sears, Sporting Life, Holt Renfrew, Coach, Gymboree, Laura/Laura Plus/ Laura Petites, Melanie Lynn, Williams Sonoma, Danier Leather, Le Chateau, BCBG Max Azria, La Vie en Rose, Club Monaco to name a few. Visit www.sherwaygardens.ca for a complete list of participating stores.

Sherway Gardens has prepared some tips to help with your job search:

1. Allow enough time to visit with employers at a comfortable pace. Try to spend at least 10-15 minutes with an employer and visit potential employers by yourself, not with a group of friends.

2. Research participating retailers in advance. This allows you to pose intelligent questions and demonstrate your interest in the organization.

3. Dress for success. You are trying to leave a lasting impression with recruiters. Your clothes should be neat, clean and professional.

4. When approaching recruiters, be outgoing and friendly. Be prepared to smile, shake hands firmly, and make eye contact with representatives.

5. Be ready to be interviewed on the spot.

6. Be prepared to answer basic questions about your skills, qualifications, education and career aspirations.

7. Speak slowly and confidently.

8. Learn how to sell yourself to potential employees – know your strengths and weaknesses.

9. Bring a pad of paper and a pen with you. Jot down brief notes as you leave each booth. Record your impressions and items needing follow up.

10. Bring several copies of your up-to-date resume with you.

Following these tips will help you find the right job, just in time for the holidays!
